Handbook
The TCM Handbook is a 109-page manual that includes step-by-step procedures to calculate technology costs. The procedures seek to give you enough direction to guide your analyses, but still give you the flexibility to meet the unique circumstances found on your campus. The procedures include illustrations and discussions of costing considerations, lists of the data that you will need for each step, and suggestions for when to use estimates and how to obtain estimates.
These procedures were pilot tested twice. Based on input from the latest round of pilot tests, TCM Handbook-Version 2.0 was created with simplified procedure, more in-depth descriptions, a paper on activity-based-costing and assigning expenditures to activities and courses, and summaries of the findings of the TCM and TCM/BRIDGE projects, and the more information on connecting the TCM cost estimates and the mini-BRIDGE model.
Those using the TCM Handbook have found the TCM Tabulator, spreadsheets that support TCM's procedures to be helpful.
You may download a copy of the TCM Handbook for free. You may also obtain a CD-ROM which includes all TCM products.
Funding to develop the Technology Costing Methodology was provided by the U.S. Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education. http://www.ed.gov/programs/fipsecomp/index.html ![]()
